Some would argue that we are past the age of warriors as tradition understands them, and that such practices and philosophies are best left to collect dust on the shelves of history. Though I (this is Brendan again, by the way) do not look the part of a warrior, and indeed am not one, I can confidently say that those people are wrong. Though perhaps diminished to a degree by the changes in our society, there still is and will always be a need not only for warriors but for the warrior spirit.
One of the ways that you can work toward the body and mindset of a warrior is through the Viking & Shieldmaiden Training courses at TrvFit in Farmington Hills. It's not just talk and it's not just exercise; it's a way to properly elevate yourself, become more fit inside and out and, yes, look like a badass in the process.
Evan and Steff have attended some of these courses, and we wanted to talk for a bit about how empowering they really are, and what's involved in completing them. Using maces (a streamlined version of the medieval weapons you may have seen cracking skulls in the movies), kettlebells and sledgehammers, you'll learn routines that enable your body's natural range of motion and dexterity. It may sound complex, but these courses are perfect for beginners. They're engaging without being overly complicated or demanding too much of you!
These are not individual courses, though the instructors will engage with you and help you to perfect your form. These are group exercises at their core, no pun intended, and working alongside your fellow athletes and acolytes is a great motivator and source of inspiration. Indeed, if you look at pictures of the classes, you'll see that there is a wide range of people present and learning-- not just any one group or kind of person, but those of all stripes. It's a way to re-engineer yourself, to look at it one way, and there are many looking to make changes and improve themselves. If you're included in that demographic, you should have a look at Trvfit's website and consider checking out their classes, be it the Viking training or one of the others they have on offer.
Of course, one of the best ways to fuel yourself up for these classes is Nakee Butter-- perhaps you've heard of it? :P With 12g of protein per pouch and a brigade of antioxidants and essential nutrients, it's the ultimate snack, whether you're becoming a warrior or attending a Zoom meeting (and who says you can't do both?). You can get some here through our website or on our Amazon store! Thanks for reading, everyone; this is Brendan, signing off for now. See you soon!
